Nobody's children...

You may have heard many times about the cruel reality of children in orphanages in Romania. After the age of 18, they are effectively removed from the care of the state and thus become nobody's children ". Being left behind by their own parents, having no relatives, but even if they have any nobody would want to care for disabled adults.

But there are people, called by God, to fall into another category: "those who do not look upon the face of man," with hearts full of love for fellow men and mercy for the wretched. Brother Nicu Perda (pastor of the church in Balş) is one of these people. He is caring for 10 orphaned "children" from Balş (3 boys and 7 girls) who lived in his house for 7 years. They never met their parents, they went to special school for physical and mental disabilities. They have a total of 26 people that they feed daily. These people live in an abandoned hostel which they managed to restore its windows, there is cold water and electricity. The living conditions are far from the comfort that each of us live , but they are happy that at least they have a roof over their heads and they are not on the street.

Brother Nicu asked us to make a humanitarian appeal to all those who can help, no matter how little they can offer. There are 6 more girls and 5 boys they want to take from the streets, they sleep in the train station or wherever they can. With the help of the Lord, they want to buy a caravan and place it in their yard to be the house of these innocent people.

We do not know how many of us could do so, listen to the voice of the Lord, and be untiring at His disposal, but from what little we have been blessed with we can certainly offer each one of us.

When I heard about them, some verses came to mind from a song I wrote many years ago:

"Orphans and forsaken,

Not desired by anyone,

Expelled by everyone,

There are many poor children.

They often cry and groan,

At night they are afraid,

Broken-hearted,

With tormented life…
